In a relatively dense built-up district of Seattle, a detached house was to be built that would offer its inhabitants the maximum possible space and freedom — in spite of its proximity to neighboring buildings. The architects achieved just that with juxtaposed structures. Protected outside areas were created both above and below the offset levels, offering plenty of space for the family's leisure activities. The transparent entrance and hall area is particularly inviting.
